Job Title: Children's Minister

Location: First Baptist Church of Springtown

Position Type: Part-Time

Job Overview:

The Children’s Minister at First Baptist Church of Springtown will lead and oversee all aspects of the church's ministry to children from birth through 6th grade. This role is essential for nurturing the spiritual growth of our youngest members, creating a loving and supportive environment where children can learn about God’s love and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Children's Minister will collaborate with church leadership, volunteers, and parents to create dynamic, age-appropriate programs that align with the mission and values of First Baptist Church of Springtown.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spiritual Leadership:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive spiritual formation plan for children that includes Sunday School, Vacation Bible School (VBS), mid-week programs, and special events.

    • Provide biblical teaching that is engaging, relevant, and age-appropriate.

    • Encourage and guide children in their spiritual growth, including helping them understand and make personal decisions about faith and baptism.

  • Program Development & Management:

    • Plan, organize, and oversee all children's ministry activities and programs.

    • Ensure that all programs are aligned with the church’s mission and theological values.

    • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of children’s programs and make adjustments as necessary.

  • Volunteer Recruitment & Training:

    • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of volunteers to support the children’s ministry.

    • Provide ongoing training and support to ensure that volunteers are well-equipped to serve effectively.

    • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.

  • Family & Community Engagement:

    • Partner with parents to support the spiritual development of their children, offering resources and guidance as needed.

    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and their families.

    • Plan outreach events and activities that involve children and their families, fostering connections within the church and the wider community.

  • Administration:

    • Manage the children’s ministry budget, ensuring good stewardship of resources.

    • Maintain accurate records for attendance, events, and communications.

    • Ensure that all programs comply with the church’s safety policies and procedures, including background checks and child protection training for volunteers.

  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the senior pastor and other ministry leaders to integrate the children’s ministry with the overall mission and vision of the church.

    • Participate in regular staff meetings and contribute to the overall planning and direction of church activities.

Qualifications:

  • A strong, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated by a commitment to spiritual growth and maturity.

  • A passion for working with children and a deep understanding of child development.

  • Previous experience in children’s ministry or related field (preferred).

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers.

  • A degree in theology, Christian education, or a related field (preferred).

  • Must pass a background check and complete child protection training.

Compensation:

  • Salary: Depending on experience and qualifications.

  • There are no insurance or retirement benefits for this position.

  • A housing allowance may be claimed by the individual if he/she meets the guidelines set forth by the IRS.

  • Vacation, personal leave, and sabbatical time will be available according to the guidelines set forth in the Policy Manual adopted by the church.
